Obama's Plan in 4 Minutes

Here's what he's trying to give us. It's pure and simple - and straight from The President himself.

You might have noticed that Fox News and other right-wing noise machines are trying to twist this into something sinister and dreadful called "socialism or fascism."

It isn't.

Health care reform is only decency and common sense.

Maybe Mr Obama needs to read his own bill. It would be helpful if any in favor of the bill read it as well instead of listening to the President who claims he hasn't even read it himself. Then make your choice.

Dear Anonymous,

I thought you left in a huff after I replied to your last comment?

Obama hasn't "read his own bill?"

Gimme a break, Obama doesn't have a bill....the Congress has bills and is hashing out numerous versions of these bills at the present time...the latest coming out of the Senate Finance Comm.

I learned this in my 5th grade public school class about how our government works. Here it is in a nutshell for you but you can always read our Constitution for more specific details:

THE LEGISLATIVE BRANCH
Congress makes the laws.

Established by Article I of the Constitution, the Legislative Branch consists of the House of Representatives and the Senate, which together form the United States Congress.

The House of Representatives is made up of 435 elected members and has several powers assigned exclusively to it, including the power to initiate revenue bills.

The Senate is composed of 100 Senators and in order to pass legislation and send it to the President (in the EXECUTIVE BRANCH) for his signature, both the House and the Senate must pass the same bill by majority vote.

Since this hasn't happened yet, there really is no bill for the President to read. And there are lots of bills being considered in Congress.

After the bill is passed by Congress, it is only then that the President will sign or veto the bill.

THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH
The power of the Executive Branch is vested in the President of the United States. He signs bills into law.

THE JUDICIAL BRANCH
Members of the Judicial Branch are appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate. Federal courts enjoy the sole power to interpret the law. The term "activist judge" is an oxymoron.

So...

The President has a lot of power but his party has only a slim majority (by only 1 Senator) in the Senate.

What Obama wants makes a difference - but he doesn't have all the support in his own party that he needs - and absolutely none from Republicans of course.

Naturally he has a fight on his hands trying to use logic and reason with people just like you who just want to say "NO to health care reform" - no matter how much it hurts the rest of us.
