I just wanted to say hi and let you know that I'm an avid reader of your blog. (I just bought the Seidner book, and I can't wait to read it.) I wish I could come visit your beautiful studio again, but I'm living in Chicago these days, and don't get home very often. After moving here for my Master's in English literature, I fell in love with a wonderful Midwestern boy and just stayed. The M.A. convinced me that academia isn't for me, so I'm back to painting, and am slowly trying to turn it into a career. (At the moment, that means a full time job in academic admin.) I really enjoy reading about your work and your thoughts on painting; they help alleviate my painterly loneliness.
I hope all is well with you, and that we can visit with each other again sometime soon. If you have the time, I'd love to correspond with you about the profession. It's a much less well-trodden path than that of an academic!
A Workshop in Classical Realism by My Teachers, Numael & Shirley Pulido
MY PHOTOS: The Pulido Studio intensive workshop on Classical Realism
Numael and Shirley Pulido (my teachers) are now offering a workshop. I cannot think of any better opportunity for a student to learn to paint really well & really fast.

Life obliges me to do something, so I paint classical realism ~ and share how it is done. I hope it helps you because the world always has room for more good art....and the artists who know how to produce it.

Amanda! Give a call when you're back in the area - the coffee pot is always on...
I'd love to sit down and chat, talk technical and catch up in general.
The Seidner book is not a good read - but the photos are the value here - I guarantee that you're gonna love it.

I'm so glad you're back to painting.
I miss you.
Love,
Karin
